How many people does your boat carry?

Our Vessel Tonka is an ex Royal Navy landing craft and is liscened to carry 12 passengers with 2 crew members on board at all times.

Is there a toilet on board?

We do not have a toilet on board the boat therefore we recommend using the facilities at our meeting point.

Are your trips suitable for children?

There are no restrictions on our trips, however we recommend they are more suitable for children aged 5 and above.

What is your cancellation policy?

Customers can cancel their booking and receive a full refund so long as this is done with at least 24 hours notice. If a cancellation is made within 24 hours of your booking, you will not receive a refund. If your booking is cancelled by us due to factors such as bad weather, you will receive a full refund on your booking.

Are your trips suitable for everyone?

Our vessel Tonka does not have seats, therefore we recommend that all passengers feel fit and able to stand. We do not recommend this trip to anyone who is pregnant, those with mobility issues, or those who are unable to stand without assistance for a long period of time. Additionally, the terrain on Little Cumbrae is difficult - therefore we would suggest it is unsuitable for young children or those with mobility issues.

Do you allow dogs?

Yes, we allow dogs on board so long as they are kept on a lead and any mess on the boat or on the island is cleared.

Do you provide food and drink?

We do not provide any food or drink on the boat so if you are joining us for a trip, please feel free to bring your own. If you are joining us for a Little Cumbrae trip, please note you cannot buy food or drink anywhere on the island - so we recommend you pack a picnic. Please note that alcohol is prohibited.

How long is each trip?

Our Sugar Boat trips in Greenock last around 50 minutes. Our day trips to Little Cumbrae are around 4 hours, 3 of which are for you to explore the island.

What should I wear?

As we know, Scottish weather can be very unpredictable so please prepare in case the weather turns. Our vessel Tonka is an open-top boat, so please ensure you wrap up and have appropriate clothing for any unexpected rain.

Do I need to wear a mask?

Yes, we ask all our passengers who are able to do so to wear a mask while on the vessel. Our staff will be also wearing masks to ensure your safety.

Can I socially distance from other passengers?

Yes. We encourage all our passengers from different households to maintain a 2m social distance throughout the duration of the trip.

Do you have hand sanitiser on board?

Yes. The safety of our passengers during this time is our number one priority therefore alongside the use of masks and social distancing, we also have hand sanitiser on board to prevent the spread of germs.

Will I be fitted with a life jacket?

We have life jackets available for each passenger on board, however you are not required to wear your life jacket during the trip. We have life jackets for adults, children and infants - although we don't recommend our trips for children under the age of 5.

Where is the meeting point?

Our new meeting point for Little Cumbrae Trips is at Fairlie Quay Marina (KA29 0AS) - just off of Fairlie Main Road - approximately a 2 minute drive South of Largs Marina. Meeting point for trip is at beginning of Jetty adjacent to Marina Reception. Please arrive at the location 10 mins prior to your trip and we kindly ask customers do not spend time walking around other boats in the marina in respect to other owners. The meeting point for our Sugar Boat trips is at James Watt Dock Marina, at the main gate just across from Jax Snax.

What time should I arrive before my trip?

Please join us at the meeting point at least 10 minutes before your scheduled departure.

How much do tickets cost?

Tickets for our Sugar Boat trips are £12 per person. Tickets for our Little Cumbrae trips are £25 per person.

How do I book tickets?

Tickets for trips can be purchased and paid for online via an online booking system on our website. Please ensure you are using an email address you have access to as this is where your booking confirmation will be sent.

Can I catch a later return boat from Little Cumbrae?

No. Please ensure that you return to the meeting point to catch a return boat at the time discussed by the Skipper. As our vessel is only licensed to carry 12 passengers, we cannot add extra passengers to any trips.

What is Little Cumbrae like?

Little Cumbrae is very remote with no facilities, and is very different to the likes of Millport. This trip is ideal for ramblers, hillwalkers and adventurers - the terrain can be quite tricky so we recommend appropriate walking boots and clothing to be sufficiently prepared. There are no toilets on the island so we recommend using the facilities at Fairlie Quay Marina prior to your trip.

Can I buy a rain poncho?

Yes! We have rain ponchos on board in case any passengers come unprepared for the Scottish rain and can be purchased for £2. Despite this, please ensure to wrap up in warm clothing on your trip.

To view, cancel OR reschedule your booking - please do so through our website. We have provided an online booking system which means you can manage your own bookings without having to contact a member of staff. To do so - login or sign up to our website through the member login section. Please note you MUST login/sign up with the SAME email address you used to make your booking. This is why it is extremely important to ensure you enter the correct email at checkout. Simply login/sign up with the email address you booked your trip, go to my bookings, and select cancel, or reschedule. So long as you do not cancel within 24 hours of your booking, you will receive a full refund.

Donations to Help Maintain Little Cumbrae

Passengers are asked to make a donation to the charity that owns island, money goes towards the upkeep of the island ie grass cutting & maintenance - charity bucket on boat.
